Presidents report: Dave Ouderkirk

  • The scholarship program has been a success. So far the club has assisted 4 players with soccer fees. This program will continue to provide needed assistance to those who qualify.
  • Assistant coaches from KWU have been a wonderful addition to the club.
  • So far there are 12 students participating with different teams throughout the club. Having these players assisting the teams has increased player to coach ratio, improved the quality of instruction, and has brought new ideas & backgrounds to the teams.
  • Referee clinic was a success. Over 20 young adults participated & were certified.
  • Player evaluations were run more smoothly this year, but still need more/better advertising of tryouts.
  • Overall community feedback on the new fields on the west side of dyke @ Bill Burke Park, have been positive.
  • Preparation for the new complex on East Magnolia is going great; there should be green grass soon! Drive by and take a look. This is an exciting time for the club. The challenges today are different from when this project began. There is more space available and many more options for the Club to expand. The hard work that people have put into this project is going to pay off for Salina area youth and surrounding communities in the future
  • President Ouderkirk closed his comments by reading the mission statement for the Salina Soccer Club.

Treasurers Report: Paula Knox reported for Sue Lefort.

  • Paula reported that the scholarship program is going well and funds are available. Funds from the camps, donation, & carding are helping with the mentoring program, coaching development, & player fees. Tax returns are complete, reported, reviewed, and approved.

Registrars Report: Jane Bradbury

  • Jane reported that the club has 242 members so far this season, up from 161, consisting of 71-Recreational players, 116-competitive players, 24-coaches, 14-assistant coaches, & 14-managers.

Head of Referees Report: Tom Zackary

  • Tom thanked Jeanette Mikinski for all her help with the referee clinic. There were 22 attendees, 6 from Salina and 22 from out of town.
  • To attend the clinic you need to be Grade 8 or above. Upon successful completion of the clinic, you will be able to referee U-14 and below - sanctioned league games.
  • There are no upcoming clinics.
  • For convenience, the next clinic will possibly be 2 - 1 day sessions
  • Tom encouraged any coaches to contact him for friendly games, or scrimmages and he will be happy to retain a referee.

Field Complex news: Paula Knox

  • Paula reported that we are off to a great start to the beginning of the new fields. There are 5 large pads 2 that can support 2 fields. There will also be a premier field that has stands and lights. The ability to rotate usage of the fields will be beneficial as we will be able to better preserve them. The City of Salina has been great in maintaining the areas so far. The success of having the fields added at Bill Burke Park with its extra attractions has been noticed and the Salina Rotary club has been gracious enough to donate funds to add a playground at the new facility.

Head of Coaching: Mike Dibbini

  • Mike reported that a year ago there were only 2 or 3 coaches from KWU, there are now 12-14. It has been a very successful program as these kids have their own visions and ideas to bring to our teams.
  • He would like the coaches to work on a set practice schedule for the assistants, as it would help prepare them for spring and fall.
  • Mike Also reported that he is looking to provide another camp in spring 2006.

Hispanic League: Jose Martinez

  • Jose brought to attention that there has been a Hispanic league in Salina for a few years with 7-10 teams. They would like to become a part of the Salina Soccer Club as it would open new doors for more players in the surrounding communities, as well as Salina.
