A motion was made to accept the report. It was seconded and
approved.
Registrar:
SSC currently has 14 teams. 205 player cards have been
issued. This should increase to 18 or 19 teams in the spring.
Directors of Coaching:
Future Clinics-
Tom Collins will give a clinic for E license on January 10 and
11. There could be a clinic for a D license on January 17
and 18 if there is enough interest. Clinics in other cities can
be found at the World Class Coaching website.
Kansas City- February 20-22 for E license
Wichita- March 6-7 for E license at Sluggers
It was restated that the SSC bylaws state that all coaches must have at
least an E license within 2 years.
The report on the tryouts for the club stated that most of the teams
kept their existing rosters, with a few adding 1 or 2 players.
Parents were given information on how to form new teams. Mike
Dibbini said he was available to help these new teams.
For the winter school gyms will be opened. Mike needs a week
notice.
Mike gave out guidelines for new teams (attached). For drills and
coaching assistance contact Mike.
Questions and comments from the audience:
Many parents did not receive timely information after the tryouts.
In the future the tryout announcement should include the age group
openings.
Premier and rec teams need to be formed at each age level.
Committee Reports
Field:
Paula Knox gave a brief history that explained the need for a soccer
complex in Salina, the development of the alliance between the SSC and
the city of Salina, and the fund raising by Jeff Knox. Currently the
status is that the land has been purchased and a sports planning and
engineering company have been hired. Because of the funds raised
by SSC, they have input on the choices made for the complex. The
issue now is to decide what type of grass to use. Paula welcomes
ideas, wish lists, and comments to her E-mail address. The next
big effort will be to begin a broader based fund raising within the
Club and businesses in Salina.
Questions and comments from the audience:
What is the expected timeline? Planting in the spring of 2005 and
play in the fall of 05.
How much more needs to be raised? We will need to raise money for
specific projects such as paved parking, restrooms, etc.
It was recommended that one person be assigned the job of writing
grants.
Uniforms:
The official club colors are purple and white. The Adidas Copas
has been chosen. There are problems with availability, but be
patience. They are out of the smaller sizes but these should be
available after December. The SSC logo will fit on the
sleeve. The cost is $84 for adult sizes and $73 for youth sizes
and this includes 2 shirts, a pair of shorts and 2 pairs of
socks. One club uniform will help with multiple rostering and can
also be passed down to younger teams.
Mike Fontese can arrange ordering and can be found at www.Big
Toe.com.Fontese.
Comments and questions from the audience:
Goal could be to have the club purchase the uniforms and then sell to
the players and teams.
Communications:
The new club phone number and website was given out. It was also
stated that in the future there will be more use of the radio to
announce things such as tryouts. The committee will continue to
work on policy and procedures for club tryouts. Updates are being
made to the coaches list and the starter manual for teams. In the
future it is planned to have a summary of the board meeting posted on
the website.
New Business
Car Decals:
Sign Pro has provided 3 design options. They are available to
view and to vote for your favorite.
Goals:
They have arrived and will be put up at Oxbow.
